A Healthy Pedicure

In honor of National Heart Health Month, we want to point out the importance of keeping up with regular pedicure treatments. Yes, the salon is a great place to escape and relax when it’s chilly outside, but there are other important health benefits to also consider. Who would have guessed that could include heart health?

For instance, did you know our nail technicians can identify issues like heart disease based on the condition of your toe nails?

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Blue nails are a characteristic of poor circulation that can in some cases be attributed to heart disorders.
  • Blue or black spots can simply mean you stubbed your toe and have damaged the nail, but in more rare cases it can also be attributed to splinter hemorrhages, which are caused by a disruption of blood vessels in the nail bed. If this was not caused by some form of impact, it can often be caused by certain drugs and some types of heart disease.
  • Combining a pedicure with a rebalancing reflexology treatment provides additional benefits to your overall wellbeing. Massaging your feet and lower legs loosens your muscles and helps with joint performance, which can be greatly affected by the cold weather. The massage also helps with blood circulation to the foot and lower leg.

So…what are you waiting for? Call (518) 489-5231  (Albany) or (518) 306-5502 (Saratoga Springs), or visit us online to schedule your next Reflexology Pedi-Kur.
