Find The Best Bridal Hair and Makeup For You!

Your wedding day is arguably one of the biggest days of your life – all eyes will be on you, especially your bridal hair and makeup! Whether you’ve been dreaming about your wedding day since you were little, or you’re just now beginning to decipher your bridal look, you want to make sure you look perfect when the big day comes. One of the first times you get a “sneak peak” of how you’ll look as a bride is during your hair and makeup trials. You’ll have the time to discuss with your stylist your vision, have a thorough consultation and make tweaks until you leave the salon feeling your best. So when should you schedule your trials? Our experts here at Complexions Spa are here to help!

Get the Basics Done First

Did you set the date and venue? This seems obvious but let’s get it out of the way. The venue and weather can impact the final styles you choose. A lake wedding in summer and a winter wedding in a ballroom are two very different settings.

Haven’t bought your dress yet? Stop right there – your dress selection will heavily influence your hair and makeup. For example, does your dress have a dramatic back? Don’t cover it with hair! Go for a braided updo or a chic bun. Does your dress have a high neckline? Pull your hair up to show the dress’s detailing. Make sure you have an image of your dress to show the hair stylist and makeup artist.

You can still book your desired hair stylist and artist ahead of time, but don’t get your trial before you purchase your dress.

Have Some Ideas

Don’t come to a bridal hair or makeup trial completely clueless. Do some research on what you like – Pinterest will be your new best friend. Whether you’re set on a specific look or makeup application, or your mind is taking you in a million different directions, having pictures always helps! Pictures show our stylists your vision better than words ever could. Your idea of a “natural eye” might be very different than another bride! Plus, if you like elements of different styles we can help you mix and match until you have the perfect customized look. You get bonus points for bringing in images of work that your stylists have done themselves! Look through their portfolio or Instagram for inspiration.

So, When Do I Book?

On average we recommend our brides book their trials 2 to 3 months before their wedding day. This gives enough time to make any tweaks or changes while keeping everything fresh in your mind. Brides that book trials too far away from the wedding date run the risk of panicking later on!  However, if you’re planning on making any drastic hair changes, we advise that you discuss this with your hair stylist at least six months in advance. Deciding to go blonde a month before your wedding won’t end well…trust us. For a full list of all our bridal services for the bride, bridal party and groom, head to our Bridal & Services page!
