Moving Meditations: Yoga Classes
Classes are held Saturdays 8:30am-9:30am (60 minutes).
Students are welcomed to the mat with a sake cup of tea and guidance to set an intention for their practice. This tea is infused with an Ayurvedic blend of ingredients that will naturally allow students to calm the mind and prepare the body for their practice.
These 60-minute classes will be held in Complexions’ Relaxation Lounge within the spa. What sets us apart from mainstream yoga offerings is our smaller class size allowing for more individualized attention.
As students move through a physical asana practice, they will connect breath to movement using breath technique and meditation. Teachers will offer assists to improve impact of asana and flow. This individual attention deepens the experience of the poses, while releasing structural tension and opening energetic communication along the spine.
Class ends with light aromatherapy and massage while students appreciate savasana allowing them to leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and prepared to face their lives with less stress!

- Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety.
- Yoga stretches not only your muscles but all of the soft tissues of your body. That includes ligaments, tendons, and the fascia sheath that surrounds your muscles. And no matter your level of yoga, you most likely will see benefits in a very short period of time.
- Most forms of yoga emphasize deepening and lengthening your breath. This stimulates the relaxation response — the opposite of the fight-or-flight adrenaline boost of the stress response.
- Even beginners tend to feel less stressed and more relaxed after their first class because of specific meditation techniques to quiet the constant “mind chatter” that often underlies stress. There is also a concentration on deep breathing techniques to focus the mind on the breath. When this happens, the mind calms.

- With its quiet, precise movements, yoga draws your focus away from your busy, chaotic day and toward calm as you move your body through poses that require balance and concentration

- Because of the deep, mindful breathing that yoga involves, lung capacity often improves. This in turn can improve sports performance and endurance.
- Yoga has long been known to lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate. A slower heart rate can benefit people with high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.
- As you learn and refine new poses, you may enjoy improved balance, flexibility, range of motion and strength. And this means you’re less likely to injure yourself in other physical endeavors or in your daily activities.
- Yoga helps clean blood of waste material (through lymphatic stimulation), and trains us to loosen muscles and joints that are ignored in our day-to-day lives.
