Ashley – Junior Stylist
Ashley has joined Complexions Spa as a salon assistant/apprentice. While completing her education at The Orlo School of Hair Design, Albany, NY, Ashley worked part-time at the spa. The day after she graduated from Orlo she accepted a full-time position at Complexions. Ashley has also enhanced her education by taking courses with Rusk, bumble & bumble, Wella, Keratin Straightening, and Rene Furterer. Ashley has a fine attention to detail and loves making clients feel good about themselves with a new hair style that perfectly suits them.
Brent – Master Barber; Associate Stylist
Brent joined Complexions Spa and Salon as a Master Barber in 2009 after graduating from Austin’s School of Spa Technology where he excelled in their Master Barber program. He has since built an excellent reputation and a strong following. He is continuously perfecting his skills and techniques with advanced training and barbering techniques with the ART of SHAVING. Brent is known for his attention to detail, customer service, and skill in creating the ultimate men’s grooming experience. After spending several years as a master barber, he realized his passion for hair and all aspects of the beauty industry and has expanded his education at The Orlo School of Hair Design and is now dually licensed as a Cosmetologist and Master Barber. As a result he has joined the team of professional stylists in the salon as well. Additionally, he is a Business Fundamentals graduate and trained in areas such as world class customer service, marketing , retail systems, and the WOW factor. Brent is excited to continue his education and lives by the motto that “More school means more fuel for my passion!”
Christopher – Senior Stylist
Christopher joined Complexions Hair Design Studio after graduating from Austin’s School of Spa Technology as one of their top students. He began his career as an accomplished makeup artist and theatrical hair designer in both Manhattan, NY, as well as in local theaters. His work has been seen onstage, screen and in print publications. He decided to pursue his passion for ‘behind the scenes’ efforts and draws from his experience ‘in front of the camera’ to create unique, versatile and fun fashion-forward looks, as well as classic and chic designs.
Christopher has trained in advanced cutting and color with the Redken Exchange, Rusk, MAC, Sebastian, Wella and Goldwell Color. Christopheris also A Network Educator withbumbleandbumble with which he acts as a liason and salon educator with everything bumble. Christopher also completed the advanced Cutting program at The House of Bumble in NYC and is excited to bring many of the current trends in the City back home to Complexions.
Christopher is also an expert in airbrush make-up as well as traditional make-up. Christopher also is a certified extension specialist with SOCAP USA. He is dedicated to customer service and personal attention, and enjoys making each client feel special by matching their personality to their hair and make-up style.
Ellie – Master Stylist
With more than 11 years of professional hair styling experience to her credit, Ellie joined Complexions Salon & Spa in 2006. Early in her career Ellie was a platform cutting artist for RUSK, an international hair styling company. As a nationally recognized Certified Hair Colorist her portfolio includes work featured in several print publications/theatre and television.
Ellie’s passion for hair styling is apparent to all of her clients due to her extensive knowledge of the hair and scalp, as well as her creativity. She takes the time to learn each client’s style, preferences, and individual taste to best transform their look into a style that is perfect and customized to them. Additionally, Ellie stays on top of new hair trends to accommodate clients that want the newest looks. As a master stylist, she is continually expanding her education by taking courses in Manhattan with Bumble & Bumble, Redken, Wella, and Rene Furterer, and more. Her work in hair color and personalized styling techniques is an inspiration to the entire team at Complexions, and her clients admire her attention to every detail during their visit to the spa. When Ellie is not styling behind the chair she is also managing the stylist team.
Jenna – Hair Stylist
Jenna started at Complexions Salon and Spa as an associate/apprentice and honed her skills and experience by working under the senior stylists in the Hair Design Studio at Complexions and by attending classes with Redken’s Salon Professional Academy as well as Rene Furterer. After excelling through the training program she joined the other professionals as a stylist.
Jenna has quickly gained popularity with Complexions clients due to her down-to-earth approach to styling techniques and her extremely creative eye. Her work can already be seen in several print publications and on television. She plans to continue her education and professional growth by taking more classes with top hair stylist educators and at the Redken Exchange Academy.
Jenna takes great pride in her friendly attitude; she also brings a true sense of “fun” to the Salon/Spa-for clients and co-workers alike! She strives to provide every one of her clients with a truly one-of-a-kind styling experience that keeps them coming back.
Kara – Master Barber
Complexions is honored to have added Kara to its Men’s Barber Spa. She graduated from Colonna Cosmetology School in 1995 and perfected her razor skills by training with several ‘old-world’ barbers. Kara then traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she became the first female barber at the prestigious V’s Barbershop. While there, she was recognized in an Arizona newspaper as giving “the best haircut.” Her clientele included Tom Chambers of the Phoenix Suns, and several of the San Diego Padres.
Kara’s travels then brought her to San Diego, California, where she was a barber on Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Base. One of her most famous clients there was Four-Star General James “Mad Dog” Mattis.
Kara’s passion is exceeded only by her skills, and her experience and styling techniques are exemplary. She stays on top of male industry trends and takes great pride in every haircut she provides.
Kendra – Stylist
Kendra is a graduate of the Troy Boces Cosmetology program. She graduated with several awards including a creativity award and an achievement award. She has four years of behind the chair experience. She began her career in 2007 as an assistant to a Redken color/cutting specialist. She has attended several Redken and Goldwell color and cutting classes, including new foiling and “ombre” techniques. Kendra prides herself on being able to listen clearly to what the client wants and needs. She believes in staying on top of education and the latest trends and techniques. She is dedicated to making her clients feel and look great, as well as teaching them product knowledge and how to create a new look from their home.
Kristi – Junior Stylist
Kristi joined the Complexions Hair Design Studio as an apprentice. After working as a makeup artist at Sephora, Kristi learned that her passion was in the beauty industry and went on to graduate from Austin’s School of Spa Technology. She has taken cutting and coloring classes through CHI, and holds a certification in hair extensions from Cinderella Hair. She is also taking classes in WELLA color and Bumble and Bumble at the Complexions Hair Design Studio. Kristi will also be working in our makeup room, doing Airbrush, Bridal and Studio Makeup Artistry, as well as eyelash extensions. She strives to continue her education by taking classes to further hone her skills and stay current with all of the latest techniques and trends. She loves making people feel beautiful, and is excited to meet new clients!
Lisa – Stylist
Lisa joined Complexions Hair Design Studio after graduating from the Capital Region Career and Technical School. She first joined the Spa as an associate and completed nine months of mentoring senior stylists where she learned and experienced a number of different and unique ways of hi-end styling and the latest trends. Lisa also has additional training with Rene Furterer, Redkin, and Wella. She currently is a hair stylist in addition to her role of Nail Spa Technician. Lisa is eager to continue and advance her career in styling and truly connects with each one of her clients by listening to what they want and providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to replicate their new hair style at home. She also takes great pride in the beautiful manicures she provides clients.
Melanie – Senior Stylist
Melanie has the talent, passion, and experience to help you achieve any style you’re looking for. She joined the Complexions team in 2008 with many years of valuable experience under her belt. Her great cuts, extensive knowledge of color, and sense of style have propelled her into the senior stylist she is today. Her experience and advanced training is with Redken, Goldwell, Wella, Rene Furterer, Lanza, and Bumble and Bumble. Her work can also be seen on many local on air personalities. Melanie is recognized for her open, honest, and warm personality. She listens to her clients and loves helping them achieve a style just right for them. You can count on her to produce great results that are easy to recreate at home, especially with her valuable suggestions on the right tools and products to keeping it looking its best between appointments. In addition to salon services, she also specializes in the art of brow shaping with a keen eye for highlighting a clients best facial features. Melanie gives each client an enjoyable experience and values the relationships she builds and maintains with her clients.
Pamela – Senior Stylist
Hailing from Foxboro, MA, Pamela first pursued a career in Communication Arts only to recognize that her life long passion involved expressing her personal creativity through professional hair design. Recently, Pamela relocated to the Albany, NY area to join the professional stylist staff at Complexions Salon & Spa. As one of the top graduates from Arthur Angelo’s School of Cosmetology, Pamela has been practicing since 2003. Her advanced education includes a Redken Certification, Wella Hair Color Certification (Wella Trends), and numerous advanced hair training programs. She has been active as a stylist to professional models and was a featured stylist in Providence Magazine. Pamela believes that listening to her clients and developing a level of trust is essential to providing her clients with a comfortable and positive salon experience.
Reggie – Stylist
We first realized Reggie’s talents as a hairstylist and colorist when he worked with us, beginning in 1987, in our original location. He left the Capitol Region fifteen years ago, and was a top stylist in the resort town of Provincetown on Cape Cod for ten years. While there, he applied his skills and built a clientele that included a number of high profile celebrities.
Most recently, he traveled to the Midwest, where he honed his skills even further through extensive training in the latest trends and techniques of cutting and coloring. His attention to detail, sharp eye for the design and execution of formal and bridal styling, always produces classic elegance suitable for any special event.
He returns to Complexions, bringing with him, an impressive resume that includes many examples of his artistry which have appeared in numerous media, including stage, screen and television and print. His artistic vision, high standard of work ethic combined with his warm and friendly manner guarantees not only a high rate of client satisfaction, but an enjoyable salon experience as well.
Valerie – Stylist; Natural Nail Technician
Valerie has been in the beauty industry since 2003 and with Complexions Spa since 2009. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an A.A.S., and from the Austin Beauty School. Valerie continues her education by taking training programs with Wella, Bumble and bumble, Rene Furterer, Redken, Keragreen Organic Keratin System, SOCap Extensions, and Creative Nail Design. She takes pride in helping her clients achieve a great “salon” blow dry at home using the right tools. Valerie believes a large ancillary benefit of being a stylist/nail technician is meeting new people every day from diverse backgrounds and learning more about them. She also welcomes the new, constant challenges the beauty industry affords as she is continually interested in learning about new industry concepts and trends.
Whitney – Stylist
A professional stylist since 2001, Whitney joined the Complexions Salon & Spa team in March 2013, having relocated to the Capital District from Massachusetts. Whitney has spent the last seven years as a stylist at the premiere Berkshire style destination Seven Salon Spa in Stockbridge, MA.
During her tenure at Seven Salon Spa, Whitney honed the art of Precision Cutting and Coloring tailored to the individual client to enhance their personal style. She regularly served as a stylist for a variety of esteemed clients including Maureen O’Flynn (opera singer), Karen Allen (actress), Jane Iredale (owner, Iredale Cosmetics), Emanuel Ax (concert pianist) and Andrea F. Nuciforo Jr. (former MA State Senator).
Recognized for her ability to interpret the unique needs of her clients, Whitney specializes in Precision Cuts, Modern Razor Cuts, corrective Styling and Finish Work, Single and Multi-Process Colors, High-Lights, Corrective Color, Bridal & Event Services & Makeup.
She strongly believes communication is of the utmost importance, and she takes the time to listen and understand needs of each client. She approaches every task with a calm energy, a confident touch and lets her creative intuition do the rest.
