Biography

Thank you for visiting my Green Spa Blog and the Complexions website. I am a licensed esthetician and internationally certified CIDESCO Diplomat. I have worked in the spa and beauty industry for more than 25 years. I am also the owner of Complexions Spa for Beauty & Wellness located at 221 Wolf Road in Albany, New York. We have been open for over 22 years.

Professional Background

I started my career as an esthetican in 1987 after graduating from the Catherine E. Hinds School of Esthetics – the first accredited esthetics school in the country – receiving the Merretta Gotham Hinds Award for highest achievement. I’ve continued my training and I hold many advanced training certificates including Dermatologic Skin Care, Laser Technician Certification, Medical Esthetics and Lymphatic Drainage. I am also an Internationally Certified CIDESCO Diplomat, Esthetics America Member, NCEA member and NY State Representative, Public Member for the NY State Pharmacy Board, ISpa Member, and NY State Spa Alliance Member. I have worked for several Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the Capital Region as well as several area Dermatologists. This work included developing pre and post operative skin care programs to optimize plastic surgical results and to reduce the healing time. I also developed a program for Age Management Skin Care which incorporated chemical exfoliation, micro-dermabrasion, facial treatments, injectables, and photo-rejuvenation. I feel strongly that a combination of these modalities truly gives the most beneficial results along with the appropriate home care regimen. I have several articles printed in professional trade journals, and I have appeared on local television and radio. Complexions has been recognized by the US Green Building Council as the first Gold LEED certified spa in the country for new construction, we received a bronze plaque from NYSERDA for our energy efficiency, Energy Star Small Business of the Year for 2009, Salon Today – Winner Salon of Distinction for 2009., and most recently Best of the Best Salon/Spa 2009 by Industry Source.

I especially love hiking & fishing in the Adirondacks, equestrian sports and thoroughbreds, fine wine, skiing, golf, and traveling to distant locations. I also love early mornings in the gym exercising, pilaties, my black labrador, cooking, and sharing time with my two teen age boys, good friends and family.
